Jon Snow and Tormond at Hard Home rescuing wildlings. Best sequence in a long time. Cersei standing strong against the Faith Militant, Arya becomes Lana and sells oysters. Tyrion and Jorah plead their cases with Dany.
Who is Patchface and what is his story. Will the TV series influence the books and does it demonstrate the unimportance of characters not in it.
Arya gets the hang of the game of faces, but at the cost of a fairly brutal caning. Sansa isn’t fairing any better in Winterfell once she is finally married to Ramsey Bolton. Though standing up to Miranda was pretty awesome. Theon Greyjoy ward of her father, gives her away and is then forced to watch her on the bridal bed. I honestly didn’t know which one to feel more sorry for… Probably Sansa.
Meanwhile Petyr has come up with an ingenious plan to be made warden of the North, keeping his alliance with Cersei strong. Tommen is still being ferocious in his dealings with the faith militant. What a legend.
Lastly Jaime is continuing his fairly ridiculous scheme to rescue Myrcella Baratheon, with frankly more success than he deserved… though still none.
Barriston Selmy is dead, Grey Worm and Missandei are back with a vengeance. Jorah has taken the place of John Connington and got greyscale, and Ollie is looking more and more like the executor of the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.
Poor Sansa is starting to see that Ramsey is not the husband she might have hoped and Roose Bolton has told Ramsey he will succeed him. How nice.
Meanwhile Dany has gone a bit brutal… Well very brutal… Well ok she fed a man to a dragon. But then she agreed to marry Hizdar so all is forgiven.
Game of Thrones Season 5 is really picking up now. Cersei is cutting away at the small council and has sent Merrin Trant off with Mace Tyrell. Is she going to have him killed?
Tommen is being the King he was born to be. Gotta love him. Whilst Margery Tyrell is reeling at the imprisonment of Loras Tyrell, and Olena is about to be sent for.
Petyr Baelish leaves Sansa with the Boltons. Is the Great Northern Conspiracy on the horizon?
Dany chats to Hizdar about the fighting pits and Jorah begins his journey back to Daenerys with Tyrion. Saddest of all Barriston and Grey Worm both look fairly damaged by the Harpy’s sons.
Season 5 Episode 3 of HBO’s Game of Thrones is picking up the pace. Janos Slint has been executed by Jon. Maester Aemon is sick – very ominous, Stannis is leaving the wall soon to avoid getting stuck in snow, Tyrion has been abducted by Jorah, Sansa is marrying Ramsey, Cersei is unleashing the High Sparrow, Margery is getting cocky, and The Mountain is moving about again.
There are a few surprises here for readers of Ice & Fire as well. Great episode.
Season 5 Episode 2 of HBO’s Game of Thrones has Arya joining the House of Black and White, Jaime and Bronn getting ready to head to Dorne.
Brienne trying to take Sansa from Baelish, and Pod throwing stones at people.
Jon getting an offer from Stannis and then a position from the Night’s Watch.
Tyrion doing nothing.
Daenerys controlling the Son’s of the Harpy in Mereen, but how does this all compare the Song of Ice & Fire books, and where is it all leading?
We discuss the highlights of the first episode of Game of Thrones series 5, and how it relates to the Song of Ice and Fire books. This is FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE READ THE BOOKS.
Lancel has returned a sparrow, Loras consoling Cersei, Sam and Jon Snow watching Mance Rayder burn to death, whilst Stannis and Melisandre try and bring the wildlings into their army.
Brienne being rude to Pod whilst Sansa rides by with Petyr Baelish, just after she lost Arya. Tyrion and Varys discussing the voyage to Daenerys whilst her unsullied battle the Harpy’s Sons.
So much to discuss, so little beer.
With Game of Thrones season 5 just around the corner, we’re pretty excited for what it might contain and how it might differ from the Song of Ice & Fire books.
Will Sam go to Oldtown? Will Jaime go to Dorne? Will Sansa be back in Winterfell, and will it contain the battle of Slaver’s Bay? Which characters from the books will be missed out? Stoneheart? Victarion and Euron, and might they appear later or be skipped entirely?
Secondly, we discuss the Great Northern Conspiracy. Does it exist? Which houses are involved (Manderly, Dustin, Reed, Karstark, Umber), and what is the evidence?
We have talked a lot about Petyr Baelish. His role in the death of Jon Arryn, the start of the war between the Starks and Lannisters, the murder of Joffrey Baratheon and Lysa Arryn and his slow rise to power. He is the genius behind the game of thrones.
But what are his plans now? He has Sansa Stark ready to marry Harrold Hardyng and he wants to take the North, but what else is in store for him?
What will happen to Jon Snow and the Wall? Will the Others knock it down? Or the horn of Joranum? Is the horn with Victarion Greyjoy or Samwell Tarly? Is Stannis Azor Ahai or the Night’s King, and if so why has the Lord of Light given him Melisandre?
We provide answers to these questions to the greatest extent that anyone who doesn’t know the answer can do.
